Home Improvement Wishes

We've got new neighbors! The house behind ours is now occupied. Showing thoughtfulness at the start, they gave us a pack of chocolates when they moved in, the other day. I like their curtain and they envied our vinyl floor design that from their opinion looks better than theirs. But like ours, their house is not custom built and we need to pay an additional to the developer if we want to change the flooring into tiles instead of the standard vinyl.

When a suitable budget comes I also want some modifications in the home. When that time comes it won't be bad to consider Baltimore Remodeling. We still haven't set up the lcd screen in our living room, which also needs a different wall color. The kitchen needs additional shelves and some more accessories. I want country style look of wares like wooden dish rack, table napkin holder or the even knife rack. The boys' bedroom lack cabinets, shelves and beds. I'm putting this off my mind since I'm thinking that it will still be a long time before the boys will separate from us in their own bedroom. Maybe someday we will extend our kitchen to the back. It’ll be a bigger room to do my cooking and for doing the laundry and pressing. We also want to extend sideways beside the kitchen for hubby’s dream internet and digital photo printing shop. Oops I spilled his plans there!

Got to get back to sleep folks! Or I’ll be mommy zombie tomorrow.

Missing

It's quite the end of April, actually it's the last day of the month today sheesh! Where's the date? It's not been happening. I just miss those times when hubby and I were still dating and he'll wait for our date every week. Though we see each other at church almost everyday, we can only date once a week. And I miss the anticipation from his eyes. And his gaze at my eyes when we talk. Oh is pushing daisies giving me this feeling?
It's just different now, he said. Yes...but I don't agree. Do you? Things are different, yes. We have kids now, he's got more work than ever, and the budget. But it's still me, the same person he's dating. Hey hubby if you're reading this uhm...nothing, just consider...Wish ko lang, I'm singing.

By the way, if you're planning for a date with your peers better opt for Blue Man Group Tickets. It’s cheaper.

And speaking of entertainment, lately, I’ve also been missing listening to The Corrs. I love their music especially when they incorporate the sound of violin. They put an Irish signature to their music and it’s great. Hearing them brings me back to my younger years. I lost my disc album before with the compilation of my favorite audio and video cds. Now, I’m trying to listen from from online. I sing their songs in videoke of course.

Kept Me Hanging

I've finished season one of Pushing Daisies and now it kept me hanging. Needed to visit a Home Improvement Blog to keep me away from thinking about pushing the next season of pushing daisies. I've yet to borrow season 2 dvd from MIL.

Ned (Lee Pace) discovered his gift when his dog Digby was hit by a truck and died. He touched the dog and immediately brought him back to life. He brought back his mother to life but also died that evening when she kissed him. One touch he brings back life, the next touch dead again forever.

37 years later, when he's already a great pie maker, his childhood sweetheart Chuck (Anna Friel) had a mysterious death. He touched her back to life and wanted to kiss her which is also what Chuck wanted for him to do but he didn't want to. He can't touch her again or she'll be dead forever. At the same time, he's extremely anxious about contemplating if he'll ever tell Chuck that he (indirectly) killed her father in exchange of his mother's life.

Between solving crimes and murders, Ned and Chuck found ways to hold each other wearing bee suites without the latter dying. This series is for the hopeless romantic...like me.

PR2 Is Back!

Good news! My PR is back and I hope it's for good. And I pray it could escalate for more opportunities. Of course it's for the moolah too but there's a sense of achievement for me when I get tasks. Then I could go on dating a millionaire ...who's name is E---- Q---- *grin*.

Perhaps Google just had some sort of experiment or something. And I hope those who also lost their PR lately would regain it back like what happened to mine.

~~~\~~@
I'm itching to watch ep. 6. I just sat beside Zach and didn't lay down a while ago even though he's telling me to, trying hard not to get to sleep too. Coz that what usually happens lately. I also doze off while putting the kids to sleep. Such sleepyhead! So please excuse me I'll be pushing daisies after I hit publish.
See you!
I Heart Mother Earth
Thank you Jes for passing on this tag to me.
Here's the rule:
~Click the badge and get the code then put the logo on your blog sidebar and post.
~Tell us what is your contribution to our planet? You live here for sure you've got something to share!! Post any pictures or share some of your ideas on how to help and save out planet Earth.
~Post these rules.
~Share this meme-tag to as many bloggers as you can think.
I'm not a part of any environmental orgs but I believe in taking care of our mother earth. This is a complete habitat suitable for living, given to us by our Creator.
"The highest heavens belong to the Lord,
but the earth he has given to man." - Psalm 115:16
In my own little way I believe that I could contribute to saving our Earth.
- Eversince I can't remember, I really put to mind not to throw even tiny candy wrappers anywhere but only into the bin. I put wrappers in my bag or pocket when there's no trash can around then just throw them in the trash when I get home. I've started to educate my eldest about this too.
- We segregate our garbage at home.
- I don't smoke (anymore).
- We use led lights instead of big flourescent lights and yellow bulbs (are there people who still use this?)
- We try to save electricity as much as possible.
Got more ideas Kikamz, Mira, Ohmymama, Roselle, Tetcha, and Vina? Anyone of who has something to share please grab this tag!
Mommy Moments - Daddy!
Times with daddy are mommy moments too! Daddy time is play time...
either roughhousing or pillow fighting
It can also be strolling in the mall or at the park. The first two frames were when we visited Manila Zoo two weeks ago.
It really warms my heart when I see my kids and their dad bonding together.
Rooming-In
When we're here in my parents' house, we can sleep either in my sister's or at the main house. Tonight, we are sleeping in my sister's since it's bigger (the whole studio type is also the whole bedroom, hehe) and has better air conditioning.
Coming here today is actually unplanned. My folks came to our house this morning and the kids swam in the pool's clubhouse. I decided that we come with them coz hubby's not home anyway. What a reason?! Honestly, I've been wanting to visit here since last week. And when Mam told me it's lolo's 90th bday I wanted to go even if she said it's not a big celebration.
By the way, hubby is in his parents' for a schedule tomorrow with a dentist who's my in-laws' acquaintance. So I got to be ready when he gets his teeth fixed. Huh why!? Uhm...nothing just a thought.
Mommy Moments - Sentimental
I was still wondering why there are Mommy Moments posts around when i realized it's past Friday already. Tsk tsk, effects of anesthesia from 2 CS. There are really tons of senti moments from when I had kids but Chris said I just got to pick one...or some.
This was during Gabe's 1st birthday last Dec. 6, 2008 (true bday dec. 3). Just ignore my sis combing hair on the background. I really feel sentimental everytime I see this picture.
It's so sentimental for me when I see my three boys monkeying. That's why I always take a picture of them playing around.
This was hubby giving bread to the little mister. I just feel sentimental with this photo.
And who can't feel sentimental with this? Only lately did I realize that breastfeeding is a sentimental moment. That's why I really sacrificed my position to take a picture of us while breastfeeding. If I only knew then, I have agreed for a picture while breastfeeding my first baby.
Purse Talk
Mhay wants to know what kind of bag I use.
1. Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you can't go into your closet and pull out your favorite purse! We want to know what you carried today or the last time you left the house.
2. List how much it cost. And this is not to judge. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, we'd love to hear it.
3. Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you're showing everyone your bag.
It's my son's bag alright. Kumon schedule yesterday. I'm the one carrying the bag since it's still too big for him. I feel lazy bringing a separate bag for my things whenever I go out with my kids. So instead, I put my lipstick, mirror, coin purse, etc. inside the bag pocket. You will normally see me carrying Zach's Lightning McQueen bag too. Where did my fashion sense go?
This bag was included in the Kumon enrollment package of Php2,300. So I don't exactly know how much it costs.
I liked this tag so I thought maybe Enchie, Pehpot, Chris, Janice, Willa, Juliana, Jeng, Hazel, Jes and Jhari would like to do this too.
Have a great day everyone!
Chat Room for Christians
I learned how to chat on the internet when I was in college. I usually just chat with my classmates. I was surprised when my classmates were able to meet people from different countries around the world. There are various kinds of chat rooms and they were inviting me to join. They were even able to make friends and meet personally those they met through the chat rooms. I heard that they also dated some of them. It’s like meeting a phone pal in those “ancient times” when the webcam was still unpopular. I guess some of my classmates then were disappointed when they finally got to meet their friend from the internet.
When I think about it, chatting could be dangerous. A person could be different with how he or she talks about himself or herself on the net from when you get to shake his hands personally. It would be safe to go to the christian chat room. It would really be nice to meet people from anywhere sharing the same belief and faith as yours. You wouldn’t worry thinking if the person you’re chatting with has the right motives and good intentions. It’s nice to talk to somebody with the same belief when a friend is not on sight; someone might be in the site. I'm not going to wonder if I'll be finding myself joining the Christian chat rooms someday when I need someone to talk to. Anyway, the Christian chat city is a safer ground especially for a Christian like me.
Paradizoo Theme Park
We stayed home most of the holiday last week. But last Saturday, we're like Fort Worth Movers with three kids in tow and two car convoys. In-laws picked us up early morning. We packed our things and off we went to Paradizoo in Mendez, Cavite about 10 minutes away from Tagaytay. I noticed that the sun is not that stingy even when I walked around the garden at 12noon compared to Tagaytay, which is nearer to the lake.
It's good that SIL brought food coz buying from their resto is a bit pricey. They have great variety of lovely flowers, which I forgot to buy some but MIL was able to take home freshly-picked veggies from their organic farm. The kids had fun running around and petting baby goats. I think Zach liked riding the pony best. You may also pet home the animals like sheep, goats, chicken, deer, etc. Do you know that the camel is used as a transport for movers? It's sold at Php300,000 to 500,000. Oh! it's like buying a new car. If you want a smaller one that's easier to ride onto, the miniature horse can be bought at around Php290,000 to Php400,000.
All in all, the place is worth visiting. It's great to have a break from the usual holidays spent swimming or malling.
Furniture For Ever
One of the first essentials that we bought when we transferred to our own home is a wooden dining set. We settled on buying such because wood furniture is not only durable but also elegant in the home. Every time we pass by furniture shops, it’s become normal for us to check out furniture. We would imagine if a certain type of item would look good to occupy our small home space. I would also look on the internet for the latest styles and designs.
When we bought our mattress, we didn't buy a bed frame yet and until now we are sleeping comfortably on the queen-sized mattress. It might take long for us to buy a bed frame coz we worry that the kids might fall from a high bed. And I think this one will look good in our bedroom. It's so classy and elegant.
There’s a lot of wood furniture in different designs to salivate on. Those cute furniture made of logs will surely entice you. Just from the looks it will tell that it could stay with your family from generation to generation.
Mommy moments - Kids in Costume
It's really fun to dress up kids in different costumes.
This was Zach in his Robin costume. His tito Edwin invited us during their company Trick or Treat two years ago.
Here's Gabriel in his Tigger costume. We attended a birthday party last December here in our clubhouse. The attire won't fit in anymore in a months time so better let him wear it.
Join us or see more kids in fun costumes.
When Your Child Says "I Don't Like You!"
It is surely a trigger of fire inside us when we hear our kids say "I don't like you!" I have heard this from Zach a lot of times. Most of the time I fumed with anger and nag him how I take care of him, I did this or I did that for him. Other times I get tired of being mad so I just ignore him. But how should we really deal with it?
Is there something wrong with what I said or have decided? That's what we would immediately think. Perhaps there's really nothing wrong with your orders. As parents, we always wanted the best for them. But maybe it's time to rethink how we deal with our kids. How do we talk with our kids? Being a kid doesn't mean we have the right to slash out our anger to them. And I'm guilty of this.
Or perhaps, it's not us, parents. They're just learning how to relate their feelings with words. They're developing how to express their emotions. And it's better than being physical about it by hitting or kicking. At this time of their life, they have realized how they make impact to people by using words.
I have read from other parents in babycenter.com (not a paid post :D) that they go through this phase especially when they are secure. Glad to know that my child is secure, hehe! They must feel safe enough to test us out when they express negative feelings and positive feelings too. It can get draining but it's a chance to start a conversation. Draw him out of that emotion and possibly fix the problem. It's also helpful to reaffirm our love for them by saying "I love you" despite of what he said. Don't overreact or make a big deal out of it.
Hope this post has helped you as it helped me. Thanks for reading!
Kumon Update
Tuesday is Zach's Kumon day. As usual we passed by the new cars along the highway. And I can't help but look at the rows of vehicles on the big glass windows.
As I waited at the lobby, I can't help but smile as I hear the teacher praise Zach when he correctly says the corresponding sounds of almost all the of the letters of the alphabet. He also know the names of colors and different picture words. I heard the phrase "Very good!" in different intonations and with all the emotions the teacher has. And I noticed that i can't already focus on the parenting magazine that i was reading.
I'm happy that my son is excited about learning. There were times when he feels lazy going to the center. But when i tell him that the teacher will be reading and giving him new worksheets, he starts to get ready himself. We were given the worksheets until Monday coz the center will be closed in observance of Good Friday. That's six 20-paged worksheets to read, quite tiring if you think about it. But Zach knows most of the picture words already so sometimes we finish three worksheets within 20 minutes. It's 1 worksheet/day but after finishing one, Zach usually asks for more so we finish all his worksheets in a day. I just review him the following days so he can't get out of the habit of studying everyday. Coz not doing that would be missing the point why we enrolled him in this reading program - to establish his own study habits that he could bring all his school life.
Tags And Award In A Row
I'm in the mood for posting tags and awards today! Some of you might have even forgotten that you gave me this tag.
A Lovely Theory
Pinaymama, do you still remember that you passed me this tag?
Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger? There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese...
* Thumb represents your Parents.
* Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings.
* Middle finger represents your-Self.
* Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner. & the . . .
* Last (Little) finger represents your children.
Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back.
Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip. (As shown in the figure)
Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later. Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)...., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.
Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)...., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day. Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse). You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT..... because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!! Please try this out and pass............. ISN'T THIS A LOVELY THEORY?
12AM Watching Anime
I woke up because of Gabe's cry at 12AM. Hubby's not on the bed. Where is he? In front of the laptop with earphones on, watching his favorite downloaded anime series. I like watching CGI too but not the anime type. I'm also not fond of following series. But this 32 year old dad is so into it! Like sometimes I get jealous yeah. Coz instead of spending time with me just cuddling on the bed, he's there watching anime.
What would happen if he learns about Free Anime Chat? Oh no! I dread that moment when he starts to join. He'll find it so easy to register. Then he can have instant access already to the anime chatrooms. When he becomes a member, he just needs to login to his account. I bet he'll be so engrossed, chatting with other people who have the same hobby as his. He would surely enjoy talking with people all over the world about the latest series available. He'll be boasting about the latest mangga series of Naruto that he has ahead of the others. Will he be sharing where he's getting all the files? I don't know.
Do you know anyone who loves anime like my hubby does? Oh yes, his twin bro.
Mommy Moments - Special Day
This was a special day for the family since it's Zach's first birthday and also his dedication. He was getting bored and sleepy when the party was starting but when he saw Chickie Boy mascot, the celebrant became the life of the party. Is it obvious that he wanted to bring the mascot home with us?
Now it's Gabe's turn to celebrate his first birthday. We also dedicated him to the Lord that day. What also makes this party special are the delicious cupcakes made by my sister. The lovely cupcakes also served as take home treats for the guests.
And look at the mommy! birthday ko rin? hehehehe!
More special moments here.
First Day In Kumon
We finally were able to attend Kumon orientation last Saturday. But even before we attended the orientation, we were 95% decided to enroll Zach there. I also scouted for preschools near our place but Kumon really stood out for us. What I liked most about the program is the individualized teaching method or one-on-one with the teacher. So the student is learning at his own pace.
Zach's first day
I enrolled him last Tuesday, and secured a schedule with Teacher Mags. Zach sat down and I heard him saying the words after the teacher. I got excited and kept peeking from the lobby esp when I hear the teacher say "very good!" to him.
There's another pupil seated across Zach at the same table, a girl whom the teacher was also supervising. I saw Zach leaning over the table then he goes out to see me at the lobby then goes back again to his seat. I think he's starting to get bored. Suddenly the girl at the same table is crying and the teacher doesn't know the reason why. She said the two kids were looking at each other and I suspect the girl thought Zach is staring mad at her. Or maybe he made a face. When the teacher came to me after the class, she looked like she had a hard time looking for Zach from under the table. She's sweating on the forehead and face inspite of the aircon. Bad news is she gave us a different schedule of 3pm Tuesdays and Fridays. But it's still good coz she can focus on Zach. My only worry is that the boy might feel sleepy at that time. We'll see tomorrow.
Tuesday afternoon, we already finished reading his worksheets that's supposed to be for the two following days. Wednesday 9am I told him to get ready for his worksheets after watching Spongebob. But he insisted to do it right away then turned off the TV. Wednesday night he insisted on reading the worksheets but I told him I can't coz i was preparing for devotional. He just did it by himself. He recognized almost all of the words through the pictures with only some of the words he doesn't know and asked ate bembem about. I hope his excitement won't fade.
Women of the Bible - Hagar
Hagar is an Egyptian name which may mean "fugitive" or "immigrant."
Hagar became a slave of Abraham and Sarah til the time they left Egypt. Hagar had no choice but to leave her own homeland. As a female slave, she was alone, with no rights and no one to defend her. She must have proven herself trustworthy to become the maidservant of Sarah and a concubine of Abraham. Sarah starts to mistreat her, perhaps out of jealousy. Hagar went away to the desert, not a smart move for her. She shortly went back when she heard the angel's voice telling her that she's pregnant. She felt like a fresh spring in her heart as she heard the voice. The angel told her to name her son Ishmael which means "God hears." And she called God, "You are the God who sees me." Everytime she holds her son close or worries about his future, she would remember how God heard and saved her in the desert. She would remember that God is near, listening to her cry.
Years later, she found herself again, in a desperate situation in the desert. This time, her masters expelled them out of their home. Dying from thirst, she put Ishmael under the bush, walked away and sat nearby coz she can't watch her son die.
"God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, "What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation."
Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink." - Genesis 21:17-19
I'm grateful that I live in this generation where slavery is not a comon practice. But like Hagar, I felt desperate in life at times. It's like even the person whom I expect to understand me, could not. It's so easy to talk it out with my sisters (biological and sisters in church). And a common need is to look for physical touch of the friends in our life. But times do not always permit to be with them, I feel alone and helpless. But God is always near. Just like how he saved Hagar and Ishmael in the wilderness. It teaches me to rely on God and learn of the sanctuary of his presence by pouring out my heart to Him. Through prayer I can hear his voice, opens up my eyes to answers to my questions and lightens my spirit.
Are you wandering in wilderness right now? Desperate and defenseless?
Just like Hagar, God will open your eyes to a "well" to sustain you and give you a way out of your situation.
I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety. - Psalm 4:8
My comfort in my suffering is this:
Your promise preserves my life. - Psalm 119:50
