Mommy Moments: New Baby?

Zach, meet Winter, your baby brother.

This was their first meeting when Zach visited us home. Quite not excited :) Unlike when I was still pregnant and i tell him that we'll have a baby and I let him touch my tummy.

He stayed with his lola while I and hubby are in the hospital. And though I miss him so much he needs to go back to his lola's as I was still recovering and taking care of the new baby. After two weeks I asked hubby to let Kuya come home.

I was happy coz things were looking good. Not until curiosity comes to Kuya Zach. One day Kuya suddenly pulled Gabe's feet from the bed while sleeping. The poor one fell from a two-feet high bad. Nothing serious happened, just a tiny bruise above the lip. Sometimes he would throw toys on Gabe in his crib as if telling him to get up and play! :D

Things were worse when we moved to our house and it was just the three of us at home when Daddy comes to work. Zach throws tantrums saying "I want to be with you!" He pushes Gabe away and wants only him on my lap. The three of us will then be crying together :D I was guilty for not being able to spend time with him like I used to. I was so sad that I wasn't capable of doing that for him.

But now things are getting better as Kuya turned 4 1/2 and he learns to understand when we talk to him. I'm happy when I see them enjoying playing together. I look forward for the time when they are bigger and become bestfriends.

WLW: When I Go Out I'd Love To...

With Love Wednesday

This time we'll talk about the things we love to do when we go out. Something that we love to do to "treat" ourselves. I'm not sure if we have lots of time to spare for such things so it could also be something that we haven't done but would really love to do if we have the chance.

Go to the parlor to have my nails done. This is a simple treat that I feel good about myself everytime I have this. I also love having foot spa. I also want hair treatments but I seldomly have one. Usually I just have cellophane or hot oil or something that starts with a K I forgot what they call it :D Someday I'll try rebonding. It feels good to have my nails done or my hair shampooed by a different person.

Have a whole body massage. We have a trusted spa cafe where we usually go to. We always feel refreshed everytime we go out of that place.

Go to a quiet place to have bible reading and prayer time. I really really miss doing that. This was in American Cemetery last March 2005, 5 mos. pregnant with Kuya Zach. I somewhat had an idea that I can't easily do this when I have kids already.

Go out on a date with my guy. I discovered old photos from friendster :D

Shop. But only when I have money ehe :D
Eat out! I don't have to cook and clean up and it's my turn to get served. See those hungry kids :D

We all deserve a treat. How do you do it?

Mommy Moments: New Favorite

Strawberries has become the kids' fave since the first time they tasted it fresh. It's also been hubby's fave pasalubong to the kids since the start of the year. We dip the red fruit in condensed milk but brown sugar does it too. I eat them plain esp. now that my cough and tonsils are in perfect harmony, hitting me all together.

I knew that Kuya Zach loves painting but a recent discovery is that he also likes doing crafts. Here's what we did yesterday using stencils and roller (Just called it such. When you pass the paper through it, paper becomes corrugated).

It's satisfying to see your kids happy in doing (or eating) what they like. Discovering a new favorite makes us feel more connected to them.

WLW: Favorite Spot In The House

With Love Wednesday

A week has flashed. With Love Wednesday once again! :D

This week we'll talk about our favorite spot in our respective homes. For me, it's behind that big window.

First time I saw this was during the house construction. I fell inlove already. I feel like I really belong here. It's my own place in the world. It gives me a big picture of what's going on outside but still feel protected. I go here for a quiet, breathing place. I hope putting a bench would be appropriate and approved to hubby.

What spot in your home do you love most? To join, just share in your blog, put the badge and add it to the linky. :D

PBW: A Movie To Remember and My Pasta

Aside from Saturday grocery and Sunday church, we mostly stayed home last weekend.

We were once again swept away as we watched "A Walk to Remember." I caught hubby staring at me twice, me, feeling tweeny once again. I was surprised that the movie still made me cry.

Our dinner last Sunday was what I call my "Ccoli-cauli Pasta" hehe :D I used what's available in my kitchen omitting shrimp and bacon from MIL's original recipe. I put lots of cheddar cheese in the white sauce coz I love cheese. Sobrang cheezy talaga! :D I used spinach fetuccini for the noodles. You can use any noodles of your choice.

A head of Broccoli and Cauliflower that cost 120 pesos each in the grocery is only 35 pesos in Alabang market. Lucky enough, hubby passes by Alabang on his way home from work so he buys vegetables and fruits from there. But that was last week and hubby told me prices have increased already. Change of seasons.

Mommy Moments: Newborn Days

mommy moments

Newborn days...the first thing in my mind was I was breastfeeding 24/7. But there's a lot for me to share about having a newborn.

Above all, I was too emotional. I think that's biological....hormones etc. There were times when I didn't want anyone to carry my baby. Like a cat who's just given birth to kittens, I feel like they're taking him away from me when someone carries him. Sometimes, just staring at him makes me cry. I felt so in awe of God for giving us a baby or that I was capable to be a mother.

I was so blessed that after the agony of my CS operation and painful wound, my firstborn didn't give us much physical stress. Except for the full aching breasts and backaches. When he's hungry at night, we hear a sound from him yet not a cry. I just turn to my side to breastfeed him and we're asleep again. He can sleep anywhere, even with poopy in his diaper hehe :D I just remembered one instance when i can't make him stop crying no matter what I did. Thanks to my FIL. Zach was peacefully asleep when FIL handed him back to me. I cried in the bathroom due to mixed emotions hehe :D

              Virgil Zachary

My second time being a mom was more physically stressful. The loud cries are really irritating and traumatic especially when you lack enough sleep. Winter wakes up every two hours to cry and be breastfed. Ironically, making him smile is easier and seeing his smile is so much joy that's incomparable to all the stress.

Being a new mom is an inexplanable experience that makes a woman intangibly rich.

With Love Wednesday: Cool Change

With Love Wednesday

Our theme for this week is about the things we love to change about ourselves or any changes we have made since the coming of the new year. It can be about your physical appearance, habits, character, or even parenting styles.

One of the changes I'm doing is following a daily schedule. I have a schedule in mind actually but this time, I want to follow it diligently. I want to do better in my time management and being consistent.

I'm lazy by nature and I want to beat that. A daily schedule helps. And makes the children secure. I'm also making a "NO TV BEFORE WORKSHEET" rule. It means Zach needs to do his worksheet first before he can watch TV. After breakfast, worksheet comes next. It works, so far.

Afternoon naps should be followed everyday too. Not just for the kids but for me too. They sleep longer in the afternoon so I can still do anything while they're still sleeping. I can still blog ;)

Don't want to be a "robot". But a more productive and happier mommy. Next, a happier family.

I know you have lots to share with this topic.

PBW: The Host and & The Balloon Guy

Photobucket

We attended a birthday party last Sunday and I was the host. Our neighbor asked me to be the host just a day before and it's my first time without a co-host. I was nervous so I wasn't sure if that came out fine. Gabe was fussy and wanted only me to carry him towards the end. Glad there were clowns to take over the party.

Zach was part of the 7 balloons.

Releasing of the 7 Balloons with the 7 Wishes

We took home some balloons and lots of candies and lollies coz others went home already before the clown show.

His Budding Independence

While watching "Wallace and Gromit."

He asked for his turn after Kuya tried on his attire for our neighbor's 7th birthday on Sunday. He didn't want to take the clothes off for quite a while. Does he look like a Motor Trade Insurance agent?

He loves to choose his own clothes to wear after bathing. And when we're going out, he takes his shoes from the rack after getting dressed and gives them to me so I can put it on him. He gets the water tumbler from the fridge (just inches taller than him) by himself when he gets thirsty.

Mommy Moments: New Year's List

mommy moments

  • Hubby and I always agreed to be more spiritual - loving, nurturing and patient parents.
  • Pursue family devotionals every Saturday morning. Got to save and buy them the Veggietales Bible - goal for the first quarter. (more opps pls.)
  • Zach will be five....FIVE! in July. It's been really so fast. We need to finish Kumon Math program then try homeschooling for preschool. fingers crossed.
  • Gabe will be three in December. Need to read more to him to help his speech development and aid in his early reading skills. Nurture his interest in music with more singing and dancing together. Maybe buy him musical instruments.
  • Take the kids on family field trips like plays, shows, museums and parks.
  • Enroll Zach to taekwondo, swimming and art classes, things that he's interested in. Then let him decide which one he wants to continue.
  • Be a calmer mommy. Do you know that mothers create the ambience in the home?
  • Read more. And to be able to do that I need to be wise with my time management.

  • Be consistent with my blogging habits. Post, bloghop and comment to other blogs regularly. I want to maintain another blog of my own domain.
  •  Another important thing is that before I could be a better mom, I need to be a better wife first. :)
Some items have been in my list before. Like the second one. With God's help we can achieve our goals for the year.

Shout For Joy

Psalm 98:4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth,
       burst into jubilant song with music;
5 make music to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and the sound of singing,

Like Gloria in "Happy Feet" I found my "heartsong." It's "Shout To The Lord" by Darlene Zschech. Hoping I could just sing it better, hehe :D

How about you, do you have a heartsong?

With Love Wednesday: Noche Buena or Media Noche

With Love Wednesday
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
My deepest regret for not posting earlier.

My previous post was last year also WLW hehe :D It's 2010 already! Was caught up with the holidays. Surely had fun and ironically the drained feeling comes when you're having rest.

I want to talk about what we love most with the past holiday. Not necessarily Noche Buena or Media Noche feast of food but also can be. We can share about the most-loved experiences we had during the holidays.

What I love the most is when we celebrated Noche Buena with my side of the family here in our house.

We ate Biko brought by Mama, mango buko salad - so delicious and new to the tastebuds- by my sis, pork and beef kaldereta, spaghetti with white cheese topping and mango ref cake (an all-time request by the folks) by yours truly. Of course no pics to make you salivate more.

my youngest sis and niece, modelling turned....hehehehe

MJ and the Jabbawockeez danced

My sis suggested for a sharing time. What are you grateful for 2009 and your dream for 2010? Didn't capture it in photos, moisted my eyes :).

Family pic. not in pic- Lolo already waiting in the van ready to go home hay! SIL and baby girl; not in country- Kuya and Ate

I really loved this Christmas coz I celebrated it with my family. I live quite far away from them now that's why I always miss them.

What did you love most about the past holidays?

Next topic is entitled "Cool Change." Talk about anything new about you. Something you might want to change in yourself or have started changing. Physical appearance, gadget, character, habit, styles...anything! Til next time! Thanksie!
