How To Maximize And Enjoy Your Trip To Kidzania

Kidzania is an innovative and interactive city, scaled for kids. It's a great place where kids can role-play the adult life with different jobs and activities they can choose from.

The entrance fee is a bit pricey (see chart below). Good thing, my kids' aunt and uncle treated us for their daughter's birthday that's why we're able to experience it. And because it's expensive to go in, you have to really plan out or get to know much in advance about Kidzania.

Kidzania entrance is like checking in at the airport

My sons enjoyed their visit to Kidzania but I think they weren't able to maximize it, considering the entrance fee. So I'm sharing this post for those of you who are planning a trip to Kidzania.

How To Maximize And Enjoy Your Trip To Kidzania:

1. Be there early. Kidzania opens at 9am but check-in starts as early as 8am. The entrance at Kidzania is like an airport where you have to buy tickets and check-in. You will be given an electronic wrist band that will be swiped everytime your kid enters an establishment.

Queing, buying tickets (if you are walk-in) and checking-in would already require time. We came as early as 8am so no ques yet and our check-in was fast.

There are really lots of jobs and activities inside Kidzania so it's really good to go early so they can enjoy most of them, if not all. Establishments accept participants until 3:30pm only. Each activity lasts for about 15 to 30 minutes each. Your child needs to line up and wait until a group of kids on the job is done doing their "work."

Although, at any day, they allow you to go inside two hours before each time slot closes, I don't think your kids would be able to enjoy most of the activities inside Kidzania at only two hours. So it's best to come early for your shift.

2. Go on a weekday. Monday to Thursday schedule is at 9am to 4pm, while Friday to Sunday (including Holidays) have two shifts 9-2pm and 3-8pm. Rates are also lower on weekdays than on weekends.

3. Try out first the activities that you like the most. Going there, the tactic I have in mind, was all wrong apparently. My kids were too focused on earning money. Until such time when they had earned much and wanted to try out wall climbing. But then the establishment is closed already at 3:30pm. Apparently, all jobs and activities are closed already at that time except for some, like BPI where they can open a savings account for their Kidzos. So if they plan to visit Kidzania again, they can use their saved Kidzos. They weren't able to try being a fireman or a pilot, two of the most anticipated activities by my sons. They could have done that in the beginning. All kids are given a check worth 50kidzos at the check-in counter which they can exchange for Kidzos in BPI. Then they can participate in jobs to earn Kidzos again.

They can't use kidzos outside Kidzania so it's wise to spend all of it there. In the end, if they have remaining Kidzos, they can spend it in Kidzania Department Store where the cheapest item is at 85Kidzos.

4. Understand the trade.

Information about each job is posted outside the activity or job establishment. Capacity tells how many kids the job can accommodate in one shift like 6, 4, 8 kids etc. Duration tells how many minutes one shift lasts which usually is from 15 to 30 minutes. They also post a sign on the doors about what time a shift for the ongoing job will be done. Ex: Construction ongoing please come back at 12:15 pm etc. There's also age requirements for each job. Now economy, if you see the sign +10 then kids will receive 10kidzos as salary after doing the job. -10 in economy means that kids need to pay 10Kidzos to be able to join in an activity. The highest paying jobs are +12kidzos like performing surgery (which was closed the day we came in Kidzania), cellphone rental dealer and calculating taxes. Mcdonald's burger shop, Cream-O, Fire station and being a pilot requires kids to pay from 10 to 15 Kidzos. Trying out different kinds of musical instruments is free.

The first thing that my kids tried is being a veterinarian. This was Zach's favorite job among all he did at Kidzania.

They also made medicines and health supplements at Pascual Lab.

They were gas boys.

Car designers at Honda which was Gabe's favorite job.

 

Zach was a car dealer too and the lady asked me if I could act as a client. So Zach tried to sell the Honda Jazz to me.

Gabe worked at a construction site.

He also became a paramedic.

Here's Dionne and Lionne, my nephews, who tried to put out fire from a burning hotel.

Overall, my kids had fun. Except when after Gabe lost his 50Kidzos when a kid mistakenly got it from the locker of one activity. Gabe cried and ranted the whole morning and had a temper until I had to talk him out of it at lunchtime.

Bottom line, don't be too focused on earning Kidzos. It's useless outside Kidzania. Use it to join activities like climbing, being a pilot, making ice cream, or making pizza. If they lack Kidzos then they can work to earn again. Just like in real life, you earn for a living and not the other way around. Enjoy your Kidzos. Enjoy life. Enjoy the experience.
