In the news lately, a freshman college law student of San Beda College died of hazing. This is the second one this year.
From year 2008 to today, at least 7 similar cases happened already with victims aged as young as 16 to 25 years.
The anti-hazing law was made years ago but it continues to be unimplemented. What now?
As early as now, I fear for my sons who will be in college or universities someday. How sure it is if these students who died, voluntarily joined the fraternity? What if they were forced?
As parents, what could we do to protect our children? How can students avoid people who pressure them into joining these kinds of fraternities? What if they feel weak to avoid the peer pressure and give in? What can a neophyte against a number of people do if he is being forced to join a fraternity?
