HAPPY

I'm just happy today to be able to help a couple go back to God and have new friends.

We met up with a couple earlier tonight. It's our first time to meet for a talk so we just had light talks to get to know each other first. We're glad that both husbands are into computers and they complement each other. The other one is into hardware while hubby is into software. Shared knowledge in there.

We're inspired that they're running a small internet shop; what I and hubby has been planning to put up. Though they only have one computer running it's better than having none. It's inspiring for us coz inspite of tough financial times they decide to keep the one computer that's left for them.

I'm looking forward for more time together especially the collaboration of our and their kids who are both boys too.

Just want to share these happy thoughts and honey has a movie for me so got to go.

My Brother Attends Sydney Church

I'm just happy to read an email from my brother that he's going to meet up or he has met up with a brother (in faith) in Sydney to attend the Sydney Church of Christ, one of our churches in Australia.

I was quite worried that he hasn't hooked up with our church there when he left the Philippines so I looked in the http://disciplestoday.org website and contacted the Melbourne Church of Christ to seek help regarding the church locations.

Apparently, one of the brothers here in the Metro Manila Christian Church has a brother in Australia and hooked up with my brother so he could attend our church in Sydney. Confused? Nevermind! What's important is that bro can attend our church even when he's working in Australia.

From the map, Sydney is closer than Melbourne to my bro who's in New South Whales.

Behind bro is the lovely Sydney Opera House.

Kuya, pagsundo mo sa family mo, ipasok mo ko sa maleta mo ha. teehee! :D

Dora, Boots and Zach

Zach's eyes were as big as light bulbs when Boots came up on the stage of the Activity Center yesterday in Pavillion Mall. And his eyes were never been as bright as when Dora came out next.

But I guess the mommies and lolas were also surprised to see the end of the show unfold abruptly after one dance number and the picture taking. I heard some said that they had wasted time of going there. No wasted time though with Rapid4me - Rapidshare Search Engine. Sorry no fun games and giveaways from Dora.

I guessed it right that Gabe will enjoy the slide more than seeing the mascots.

Arroyo's Simple Dinner

Who wouldn't get hypertensions hearing about PGMAs and the entourage's dinner at a classy New York resto which costs US$20,000. That's close to 1 million pesos. This happens while lots of the Filipino people have nothing on their table. Sorry that's an exaggeration! There's no more lonely rice with sarsarap or instant noodles.

This happens while Mortgage Rates are soaring. And after the whole world celebrates the success of the life lived by the well-known former leader of our country, Cory Aquino. PGMA now brings down the image of Filipinos by being selfish and inconsiderate of her actions to her own countrymen. Just think about how many schools should have been assisted to complete buildings, chairs or school supplies for unfortunate kids for that amount of money spent in just one "simple" dinner.

My guess is that she's really taking everything there is for the last year of her term. Sabi nia siguro "Todo na to!" The Arroyos claim that the increase in their wealth is because a property they bought for only P100,000 in 1996 was sold by Mr. Arroyo for more than P41 million this year. Do you believe that? I don't! I don't believe that a certain Mr. Lim was able and willing to pay Mr. Arroyo more than P41 million for a property in Bulacan. Seeing from the tv, the area's not even developed for a person to be interested and be willing enough to buy such a lot at such BIG cost. Kawawa talaga ang Filipino employees na nababawasan ang tax buwan-buwan at ginagastos lang sa pagt-travel around the world ng mga mapagsamantala.

Light A Candle For Corazon Aquino

Kero invited me to this tag some days ago. I find it inevitable to share my thoughts now as I watched earlier how she was taken to her final moment. Her family's wish to have a solemn private funeral was not followed. People still managed to go as close to the funeral site despite police forces and guards all around.

As different kinds of people spoke in her necrological service, I see the many images of Cory Aquino. She was a nation's hero, an icon, an advocate, a client, a friend, a sister in law but most especially to her children, a mother. Yet her fine character of humility and love stood out in all the roles that she took.

My eyes got wet from time to time. Especially when one of the members of her security group who worked for her until her death spoke about his heart. Sharing how thoughtful the former president was to ordinary people like him, to always ask them, even until the time of her sickness, if the guards already had their meals.

God will always use people for the good until his death. I know that all the people have learned from her in different ways. For me, I was reminded of the value of each one's life. The importance of showing your love to someone as long as you are able to.

(Start copy)
In loving memory of former President Corazon C. Aquino, I am encouraging the blogosphere to light a candle for her. Grab the image below, add your prayer for Mrs. Aquino and link up.

LIGHT A CANDLE FOR CORAZON AQUINO

1. Bits & Pieces - Thank you Lord for giving President Aquino
the gift of life. It was a well-lived life as she
touched nations all over the world.
It must have been difficult for her
especially the last months of her life.
But everything is well now as she joins you.
May her family find comfort knowing that
she is now safe in your kingdom.

2. Kero's Celebration - Our gratitude to you, Lord for sharing with the Filipino people, one of your miracles on earth. May the courageous life of President Aquino continue to inspire women all over the world.

3. A Time To Weep And A Time To Laugh - I thank You Lord for giving us the perfect example of how a Filipino should be. More than anything she is the best example of a kind and loving wife and mother. I know that you are the only one Lord, who could give the ultimate comfort for those who grieve especially her family. May you please give them the comfort and warmth that they need.

4. Your Blog

Please feel free to grab the tag and add your blog.

Dangers of Too Much Exposure to Digital Gadgets

I've heard about this before but reading a journal yesterday gave me a more detailed and factual information about the subject.

Too much use of computers, video games, PDAs, music players and etc. is harmful to our brain's health. Because of these gadgets, people has lost social connections. This means person-to-person interaction and not the social connection websites on the internet. Social connections protect us from stress.

Eye-hand coordination may be developed by playing video games but it restrains the frontal lobe of the brain which blocks memory, attention, and problem-solving skills.

But according to Gary Small MD of IBrain:Surviving the Technological Alteration of the Modern Mind, "It's not all good, it's not all bad. It's about finding the right balance."

What Can We Do?
  • Make family meals a priority. Research shows that teens who are hear by the family or parents are less likely to engage in high risk behaviors like taking drugs, pre-marital sex or abortion.
  • Vary your tasks. And this is how blogging can be good for us. Switch often between emails, feeding your baby, bloghopping, chores, and composing a post in your blog.
