At Hardin

This was a pic from last week's "Family Day" in Hardin Ng Postema Resort in Tanza, Cavite organized by the church. Others stayed there overnight in tents or rooms. We decided to go Sunday morning; we just hitched ride with hubby's twin bro.

After the worship service, we had an "Amazing Race con Pinoy Henyo" style game. I led the cheering for our team "Luke" (team names are based on Bible books) to the tune of Superbass originally by Nicki Minaj. Can you figure that out?

Our team was heartbroken to know that we won the 1st place only and not the champion. We were always the 1st team to finish the individual four station races except for the last one. But still we expect based on our calculations that our total time is shorter than any team. It's hard for us to accept the judge's explanation that we lost because of violations that the team made which were converted to minutes and added to our total time.

Anyway, the kids had a fun time swimming. Although, just 5 minutes in the pool,  Winter again had trauma to go in the water as he slipped and wasn't able to go up out of the water for 5 seconds. Thanks to the woman near him who pulled him up from the water. Poor boy...He stayed at the sides the entire time where the water reached to his mid-leg only. He still had fun anyway.

Winter here was already hungry and sleepy. hehehe :D

My Boys Got Smacked By Snoopy

Zac smack Snoopy Gabe and snoopy
I took this photo from snoopy street fair simulation app from my iPad. Snoopy is still the cutest beagle in the world of cartoons! Do you agree?

Lately, I've found simulation games for my iPad. And here I am again crazy with sim games. First I found Lemonade Tycoon, my most classic fave sims game. And then I found Snoopy Street Fair. Then I tried Island Exotic but the graphics and user interface aren't good so I deleted it. Then I'm now trying to build my pet shop together with my eldest son at Tap Pet Shop and an awesome bakery at Bakery Story.

So you see, these simulation games are taking my time. Add it to my daily housework and I got no more time to blog. But I'll visit all of you soon!

Children's Books In iPad

I don't intend to let my kids use my iPad....all the time. But since they are always interested, might as well get apps that's educational for the kids.

New in my iPad are good books and one is the pop-out book "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter.

It's a digital pop-out book. Touch the bunnies and they laugh, the birds chatter and you can also pop the blueberries.

Help Peter Rabbit go under the fence by moving the finger sideways. Help Peter
Zach chooses the option - "read to self" while Winter chooses the option - "read to me."

Best of all, every word is played in audio when you tap it. So Winter gets familiarized with the words more as an assistance to a non-reader.
Now I'm saving up so I could purchase the whole book.

Jolly Kiddie Meal Toy : Happy Feet 2 Ice Funscapes

Yey! We've completed the set of Happy Feet 2 Ice Funscapes toys. You get one part included each time you buy a jolly kiddie meal. The four parts you can collect and connect are:
1. Jumping' Driving with Ramon
2. Penguin Pool with Erik
3. Super Climber with Sven
4. Swerve N' Slide with Mumble
The kids had a blast playing with the penguins jump, climb and slide without batteries needed.

I was the one who's more eager to complete the set. And surely the boys' laughs were music to the ears while they're playing together with the Ice Funscapes. Simple toys, simple joys.

Kids Are A Joy To The Family

My youngest son, Winter, usually would look into my cooking so he sees the ingredients I put in my recipes.
The other day, while serving adobo into Winter's plate, he asked "Mommy, where's the leaf?" I said, "It's just there but we don't eat it." His daddy added, "Mommy just puts it for flavor." The little boy replied, "What flavor daddy? Strawberry or grapes?" Hehehehe :D

Very cute isn't it? Kids are literally a joy to the family.

Teaching Kumon Lessons

During the sem break, I asked kuya Zach to teach Winter his Kumon lessons. You know in Kumon, there's an assigned worksheet to do everyday even if it's vacation.

It's a relief to see my kids in harmony. Hehe :D The scene lasted for 10 mins. then Winter doesn't want to listen anymore.

Winter is beginning to wallow when I tell him it's time to do his worksheets. He's not that excited anymore unlike when he's in level 7A and 6A, which is composed of recognizing words through pictures. Now in level 5A, he needs to say the sounds of the letters and trace the letters like the one in the 2nd photo. I usually tell him he can play online games after he finishes his worksheet. It works and I hope I'm doing it right.

How about you? How do you motivate your children to study his lessons? Hx BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

White Xmas treeWhite Xmas
For others who want to be different, go white on your Christmas Trees.
These are other photos from our unplanned visit to SM Makati last Sunday. It really feels like Christmas is just around the corner when you see these trimmings being sold and displayed everywhere.

Stretching Our Finances

If you're not aware, hubby was out of work for two months already. I mentioned it in my previous post. Their company was affected by the recession in the US.

Good news is that, he will be starting in his new job on Nov. 16. Ameeenn! God is an awesome God!

Problem is, we're not sure if our allowance can stretch up to his first payday on the 30th. Its obviously impossible that he could get a cash advance from his new job. That would be much to ask considering he's very new in the company.

I heard there's cash advance online. Maybe I better check on that option. *wink* BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

Color Connection | Ayala Mall Hopping

PhotobucketBefore going back to the province home here in Laguna, we decided to stroll around Ayala Malls. Since this is where we would also take a ride home. It's very seldom that we visit Makati City since when we moved to Laguna.

SM Malls or rather malls in the Philippines are usually dressed up already with Christmas decorations by this time. And Christmas trees in different sizes and colors are being sold.

Scary Truths About Halloween

1. A scary truth about Halloween is when you allow your children to watch horror films.Horror films has been the most popular film genre among youth. Halloween has been a time when horror films, documentaries about ghosts and haunted spirits are featured all over the media. When you allow your children to watch these, you promote ungodly fear and cultivate it in their hearts.

God didn't give us a spirit that makes us weak and fearful. He gave us a spirit that gives us power and love. It helps us control ourselves.- 2 Timothy 1:7 New International Reader's Version

2. A scary truth about Halloween is promoting the "cute-ification" of all things evil. Halloween has been a celebration that uses children to promote a fascination with darkness and superstitious fear. Instead of hating evil, we toy with Halloween which was conceived in evil. Whether it's about witchcraft, ghoulishness, spiritists, sorcery, bloody zombies, deaceased body and any malevolent imagery paraded before our children. We laugh at the very things that the Lord describes as “abominations,” and we find ourselves obsessively fascinated by the dark side.

Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided. Proverbs 16:6-7 (NIV)

3. A scary truth about Halloween is instead of teaching our children to fear Him, we waste time for ungodly things. Our role as parents is to teach our children how to fear God by honoring His commands. Instead of doing that, we waste our time teaching them to fear man and evil.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as s ymbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. - Deuteronomy 6:7-9

Our children are blessings and rewards.

How do you observe Halloween with your kids?
